Background/context: The context is a British International School (K-12) With regard to the current ‘wisdom’ on leadership styles, Micheal Fullan (et al) barely makes any remarks regarding the administration, management and leadership of remote learning contexts (either in schools or universities). One way to develop this idea is to show that this ‘gap’ is the case and to try to frame new principles and practices in order to meet new circumstances based on the experiences of remote teaching and learning as a result of COVID-19. What lessons seem to be arising on how best to lead/administer/teach within the remote learning context, and then critically reflect on how such learning communities can best be led. Fullan has something to say about learning communities towards the end of his book ‘Leading in a culture of change’ – but they are not remote learning communities. So what, if any comparisons can be made with his and other people’s views? Furthermore Daisy Christodoulou in her book ‘Teachers vs Tech’ raises the teaching and learning aspects of technology integration but this should be extrapolated and critically reflected upon regarding the impact of leadership in this situation.
